The Programmable Digital-7 delivers incredible spark energy combined with a long list of advanced programming features. After working with professional racers and sanctioning bodies, this list of adjustments and settings has grown giving racers more control over their timing and rpm functions!

The Programmable Digital-7 Ignition, now PN 7530T, provides a separate timing curve for each gear. That means up to six curves can be selected through a run so you can add more or less timing to match the load and engine speed throughout a run. Other updated features include retard steps that can be ramped on and off, and a new Traction Control Detection (TCD) system.

This TCD circuit monitors the magnetic pickup input and if it senses that the signal has been modified it will set a trouble code and flash indicating that traction control has been detected! We have been working with different race sanctions to help them with illegal traction control systems and our TCD circuit is the answer.

To handle the additional computations, we upped the microprocessor performance to 40 MHz! This is the most powerful and quickest controller used in any digital ignition control so you can rest assured that every adjustment is accurate. The Ignition can be triggered with a points/ECU trigger, magnetic pickup or a non-magnetic pickup of 4, 6 or 8- cylinder engines. It is supplied with vibration mounts, PC harnesses, wiring and the Pro-Data+ software.

Pro Power HVC Coil

With the popularity of high powered street/strip cars, there has been a need for a coil that could fill the needs of these double duty cars. By combining the race proven design of the MSD race-only Pro Power Coil with the technology behind our new HVC Coils, we've filled that requirement.

The Pro Power HVC Coil is designed for drag racing applications with an MSD 7 Series Ignition Control. With a combination of extremely low primary resistance and the efficient design of an E-Core coil, the HVC produces high voltage without compromising the current output. Due to this unique design, the Pro Power HVC can be used in long duration racing events.

MSD HVC II Coil

MSD engineers drew upon their experience with Top Fuel cars and coils used with our Pro Mag 44 to create the new HVC-2 Coil for use with the MSD 7 Series Ignition Controls.

This coil utilizes an iron U-Core design with a segmented bobbin for improved voltage distribution. The bobbin is molded from Dupont Rynite FR946 and wound specifically to create an effective coil with incredible voltage capabilities, lightning quick rise time and lengthy spark duration.

The housing, also molded from Rynite material, features far spaced brass primary terminals and a well protected secondary tower for increased spark isolation. The housing is completely potted with an epoxy compound for vibration resistance and installs with sturdy vibration mounts. For use with MSD 7 Series Ignitions.

Flying Magnet Crank Trigger Kits

For a long time, racers have known that one of the best things to do to an engine to improve its performance is to stabilize the ignition timing. The MSD Flying Magnet Crank Trigger system does exactly that by using four magnets embedded in an aluminum wheel. Although similar in appearance to other crank triggers, the MSD Flying Magnet design works on a different principle.

Most crank triggers have a wheel, with steel studs sticking out, bolted to the harmonic balancer. As the crankshaft turns the studs pass by a stationary magnetic pickup, triggering the ignition. This pickup can be triggered by other bolts, debris or even vibrations which will cause a loss of power or engine damage. The MSD Flying Magnet Crank Trigger uses four magnets secured in the aluminum trigger wheel that pass by a stationary non-magnetic pickup to trigger the ignition. This "flying magnet" design produces accurate trigger signals and the non-magnetic pickup cannot be false triggered.

Each Flying Magnet Crank Trigger includes a two-piece mounting bracket for the non-magnetic pickup that in most cases will work on either the passenger side or driver's side of the engine (the SB Chrysler and SB Ford brackets mount on only one side). The CNC-machined aluminum bracket securely holds the pickup in place and is slotted to provide a wide range of timing adjustment. Spacers are included so you can mount the bracket on engines with standard motor mounts or engines with a ¼" motor plate. These systems will trigger MSD 6, 7, 8 and 10 Series Ignitions and all MSD Timing Accessories.

MSD 7AL-3

The most complete drag racing ignition available! The 7AL-3 is based off the well proven 7AL-2. It features the same capacitive discharge multiple sparks plus offers 20% more primary voltage and an additional 35% more spark energy. Not only is the 7AL-3 packed with more power but it also features a host of drag racing accessories. A built-in Three Step Rev Control provides three different rpm limits that can be used for the burnout, holeshot and top end. The rpm limits are adjustable with easy to access plug-in modules and will deliver consistent performance on each run.

A Multi-Step Retard features four different modules that can be activated as well as a RPM activated switch that can activate components such as a micro-switch on the shifter or a nitrous solenoid.

Many race engines with crank trigger systems or locked out distributors will benefit from the 7AL-3's built-in start retard option. During cranking the start retard will retard the timing 25° allowing the engine to turn over easier. When the engine starts, the timing will go back to it's mechanical setting. One last option is an rpm activated switch. This feature allows you to activate a solenoid or shift light at an adjustable rpm. When the engine hits the desired rpm, the component is activated and whenever the rpm falls below that amount it is deactivated.

The increased output and built-in racing features make the MSD 7AL-3 the best and most complete high performance drag racing ignition available.

MSD 7AL-2

The 7AL-2 is the choice of professional racers from six second Pro Stocks to Monster trucks. The CD circuits deliver full energy sparks to the plug throughout 14,000 rpm ensuring that even the most exotic fuel combinations are thoroughly ignited. A special coil coupler increases spark duration and protects the Ignition in the event of coil failure. MSD's accurate Soft Touch Rev Control is built into the 7AL-2 so our Module Selectors and other rpm controls can easily be connected.

To survive the demands of heavy duty racing applications, the circuit boards receive a heavy duty coating of Humi-Seal compound. This substance seals the circuits for resistance to vibration and moisture. Heavy duty vibration mounts are also supplied. The 7AL-2 is a proven winner on tracks around the world.

MSD 6AL Ignition Control

The 6AL shares the same proven circuitry of the 6A with the addition of a built-in adjustable rev limiter. The combination of powerful sparks with the safety of a Soft Touch Rev Control is what makes the 6AL the most popular ignition control in the world. MSD first developed the Soft Touch rev control to prevent overrev damage to your motor in the event of a missed shift or driveline failure. The rpm limit is adjustable in 100 rpm increments with MSD’s plug-in modules. When the engine reaches your selected limit, the Soft Touch circuitry begins dropping the spark to various cylinders. On the next cycle, these plugs are fired again to prevent fuel from loading up in the cylinder. The result is a smooth and accurate limiting action without backfires or roughness. The Soft Touch Rev Control also opens the door for you to add rpm accessories such as a Two Step Rev Control. A Two Step allows you to set two rpm limits, one for a holeshot rpm and another for overrev protection. The 6AL is supplied with rubber shock mounts and modules for 3,000, 6,000, 7,000 and 8,000 rpm.
